The Nehemiah Center offers many different programs for their children.

Middle School Programs:The middle school that Nehemiah offers classes to children from 6th through 8th grade. They have Math and Languages along with self- management and career awareness.


Morning Programs:For morning programs they offer Mommy and Me and Pre-Kindergarden. In Mommy and me, every tuesday from 9-11 a.m, mothers and their children, generally 2 years old, can go and learn together. Their Pre-k program is for children 3-5 years of age from 8 am to 3 pm.



Afternoon Programs:
The Nehemiah Center offers an Academic Enrichment and a College Prep program. In the AEP, children go play on the playground, are given a snack, have a praise and worship session, and then do their homework with tutoring available. For the CPP, students are given a snack and then they do homework. College help, such as SAT prep and application help, is offered to High School students, and they go on College tours.

After School Activities
For after school activities, the Nehemiah Center has three different courses to choose from: The first available is English as a Second Language (ESL), where they teach children English. The second is an Effective Parenting Program Class (EPP), where parents are helped with how to bring up their child. The last activity they have is a Healthy Living class, where they can find counseling for family crisis are taught basic skills that they might need, such as:

    • Changing a tire
    • maintaining a checking account
    • checking car oil



Auxiliary ProgramsThe main auxiliary program that Nehemiah Services is their volunteering. Almost every day, people go out to help at the Center. To find out how you can help, visit How you can Volunteer

The Nehemiah Center also has a College Student Work Study program, where students come from Rice University, University of St. Thomas, and the University of Houston, to help the kids.

They also have a Fred Alcorn Scholarship program, where children are given the chance to pursue a college education. This program allows teens to choose from a great list of colleges, which include
Columbia University, Oklahoma State University, Prairie View A&M University, and Houston Community College.
